The fire occurred on March 5, 2024 and appears to have been caused by a lightning strike. Everyone in the building evacuated safely and the fire was contained to the structure. The Norwalk Fire Department and Milan Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire.

The Huron County Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services is assisting staff in providing continuity of services.
