Behavioral Health Apprenticeship
An Opportunity for Debt-Free Education and Career Advancement
Starting as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA), participants can progress to become Qualified Mental Health Specialists or Behavioral Health Specialists (QMHS or QMBH), ultimately working towards an Associate Degree and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDCII) licensure. Participants in this program earn $15/hour to start and advance to $17/hour as they complete their on-the-job training.

Secure college credit toward an Associate Degree from Lorain County Community College
Earn your licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDCII)
3100 Total Hours or 1.5 Years + 220 Related Training Hours
State resources will be coordinated to secure funding to allow for debt-free education
Eligible to apply for Ohio's Great Minds Fellowship
One of the most significant benefits of this apprenticeship is the prospect of receiving a comprehensive education and licensure without incurring student debt. Moreover, apprentices will earn a living wage from the outset, with pay increases as they advance in their training.
The Ohio Behavioral Health Apprenticeship Program is offered by Oriana House, Inc., in partnership with the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services, Lorain County Community College, Ohio Alliance of Recovery Providers (OARP), ApprenticeOhio, and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s Great Minds Fellowship Fund.
